The English Week in Zalishchyky Gimnasia

The week of English has started. On Monday our pupils made posters, sang Christmas songs and watched films based on Shakespeare's plays ("Romeo and Juliet" of 1968 is really amazing). Then the quarantine was announced. Despite such a situation we keep having fun with English. Our children enjoy doing online activities, watching films and reading books (teachers are waiting for their reviews). I hope we will meet next week and organize some more interesting events.

Цікаві зустрічі

6 вересня нашу гімназію відвідали працівники Заліщицького районного центру зайнятості. Вони розповіли учням про свою роботу та можливості працевлаштування у нашому районі.

 Для учнів 9 класу тема освіти та працевлаштування надзвичайно важлива, адже наступного року вони повинні обирати вже профіль, за яким будуть продовжувати навчання.  

Ну, ось і вересень - 5 (9) клас!

Ми знову прийшли до нашої гімназії! Цього року вже випускниками! Перший вирішальний етап, перші екзамени (ДПА), ми вже зовсім дорослі! Але зараз ми просто радіємо, що знову зустрілися, прийшли в наш клас, почали наполегливо готуватися до уроків.

Від цього навчального року чекаємо хороших оцінок, гарних результатів, прекрасного настрою. Але найбільше хочемо чудово проводити час у колі друзів-однокласників та улюблених вчителів!

Back to School Seminar

Cambridge English

Should we teach our students and prepare them for exams or for life? This was the main question of the Back to School Seminar which was held by Cambridge representatives in Chernivtsi in August, 25. Thank you, Olha Madylus and Christopher Smith, for wonderful presentations of your experience in teaching English. I'm sure that all the teachers who attended the seminar were delighted to start a new school year.

Happy, happy time!

This is a Haiku poem which was created by our young children on the Japan day in our Summer Camp. We have been working and having fun since the 1st of June. Five teams from different continents enjoy their staying in the camp doing loads of exciting activities with their English teachers, team leaders and Peace Corps volunteer Mr Gable.

Свято останнього дзвінка

Ось і пролунав останній дзвінок! 27 травня свято останнього дзвінка зібрало в стінах гімназії щасливих гімназистів, їхніх батьків і вчителів. Це радісне свято із нотками суму через випускників, для яких це насправді вже останній дзвінок у стінах їхньої Alma Mater. Усі інші учні восени повернуться до навчання з новими силами та ідеями.

Тож бажаю Вам, дорогі учні, гарно відпочити, здійснити свої літні мрії, адже літо - це юність, запал та енергія. Чекаємо Вас у вересні і рідній гімназії!

Проект "SOS. Історична пам'ятка"

   

  

    Нещодавно наш клас відвідав школу I-III ступенів ім. О. Маковея  з метою дослідження історичних пам’яток, а саме могильних надгробків з єврейського кладовища, якими викладено водостік на території навчального закладу. Ми, як сучасне покоління, що виховується в демократичній країні, вважаємо  використання могильних надгробків для господарського призначення  не допустимим, адже це приниження  гідності людей іншого віросповідання. Якщо ж ми будемо ставитись таким чином до інших народів та їхньої культури, то це проявиться у  відношенні  країн світу  до Української держави.

Могильні надгробки з єврейського кладовища

Чисельна Єврейська громада проживала на Заліщанщині   до  30-х років минулого століття та відіграла  важливе значення у розвитку і формуванні культури та економіки нашого краю. Дуже багато вихідців з міста Заліщики стали відомими. Наприклад Льюіс Намієр –  радник прем’єр міністра Великобританії Девіда Лойд-Джорджа з питання відносно України після  закінчення  першої світової війни. Також нам відома Міла Садберг-Меснер, яка написала книгу ”Світло крізь темряву”. У часи другої світової війни велика  кількість євреїв - жителів нашого міста постраждало під час голокосту, тисячі було знищено і захороненно у братських могилах або  відправлено у Коломийське ГЕТО.

Is social media the new stage of language evolution?

About twenty years ago only very few people knew what a mobile phone is, ten years ago we started to send emails on a regular basis and now we can access the internet with the help of a small device. We can easily browse the web, chat with our friends, read online papers, share every moment of our life via Facebook or Twitter or we can be the editor our website either as a blogger.

Is it language evolution? What is your opinion on this point? Please share your points of view on my blog.

Cambridge Day 2016

    The Cambridge Day is a methodological conference regularly held in Ukraine by the representatives of the Cambridge University Press in our country. This year I had a pleasure to attend it in Kyiv on 16 March. It was a great experience, 420 enthusiastic people visited the conference and listened to wonderful spokespeople: Matthew Siegal and Lana Sushko. I am also grateful to Daryna Sizhuk and Anna Shovkaliuk who are doing a great job organizing such events.

Фінал XV Кубка Тернопільської області з українських інтелектуальних ігор пам’яті Героя АТО Ореста Квача

ГЕРОЇ НЕ ВМИРАЮТЬ! Під таким гаслом у Заліщицькій

гімназії відбувся фіналXV Кубка Тернопільської області з українських інтелектуальних ігор пам’яті Героя АТО Ореста Квача. 7-8 березня 2016 року у навчальному закладі змагалися в інтелектуальних двобоях понад 60 школярів області, які стали переможцями відбіркових турнірів.

Команда учнів 4-В класу виборола 3 місце у бізнес-грі, 

яка була по-справжньому яскравою і феєричною.

Під час урочистого закриття кожен учасник отримав з рук міського голови А. Квач іменний сертифікат учасника змагань, який розробив заступник директора гімназії з виховної роботи Рибак Я.Я.

Second Annual Foreign Languages Teachers Forum - 2016

        14-15 March I had a wonderful opportunity to attend the Second Annual Foreign Languages Teachers Forum in Kyiv which was held by the Alecom Education abroad. More than one hundred teachers from all over Ukraine visited this event and took part in seminars held by the representaitives of the most famous schools from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Canada, the USA. The seminars were really interesting and I am very grateful to the Alecom Education and Ministry of Education of Ukraine for the invitation to participate in the Forum. 

I am going to Kyiv to attend the International Forum of Foreign languages teachers. I'm looking forward to meeting interesting people and getting new knowledge and useful experience.

Interesting Meetings

Our pupils are always eager to meet interesting people. Last autumn one of our school-leavers came to the gimnasia to meet with our teachers and pupils. Taras Gagalyuk left gimnasia in 1999 and since then he's had a successful career as a scientist. He's got a Doctor's Degree in Economics and works in Institute in Halle (Germany). Taras shared his experience with our pupils of the 10th and 11th forms. He was talking about his studying in Ukraine and in Germany, his work in Kyiv and in the World Bank in Washington. Children had some questions to ask the guest. There are definitely future leaders among our pupils and it is really useful and essential to organise meetings with people who are self-motivated and succesful.

Our headteacher Oleksandra Voychyshyn, Taras Gagalyuk and leaders of the Pupils' Parliament Marta Dzhumaha and Iryna Tiasko are discussing some points of international work of Zalishchyky State Gimnasia.

Safer Internet Day

9 February - Safer Internet Day

We took part in the events dedicated to this day. Pupils created presentations and posters on how to use the Internet safely, how to avoid cyberbullying. We discussed some important issues concerning social networking and using information technologies at classes.

Pupils of our gimnasia created posters dedicated to the English Year in Ukraine. Children say that English is no longer a school subject only but it's the way to communicate. They learn loads of interesting and useful information, spend time surfing the Net and doing exciting activities using foreign languages. 

 

 

 

Puzzle-Game

Puzzle is an interesting and exciting game for English-lovers. Our pupils regularly take part in this all-Ukrainian event and always receive diplomas and certificates as well as other prices and presents.

08-13 February - pupils of our gimnasia were taking 

part in the events within the foreign languages week 

program. Children played games, created different

posters dedicated to the Foreign Languages Year, 

participated in various quiz shows, solved a great 

number of puzzles and crosswords. Pupils of the

forms 4-V and 5-A took part in the Euroclub meeting.

They were talking about European Union, its history, 

symbols and traditons, its countries and peoples. It

was exciting to create presentations on the Safer

Internet Day (February 9) and prepare Valentine's

Cards for our friends and teachers.

The contest “Teacher of the year” is a great opportunity to learn a lot of new and useful things, make new friends and share one’s experience with them. The first stage of the contest was held on the 15 January. 18 teachers were talking about their creative ideas in teaching English. Only 5 teachers were chosen to take part in the next stage. I was one of those teachers. On the 24 January we have come to participate in the contest and present our projects on the topic “The English way to Success”.
